Chapter 14 Discussion Board

Q After reading chapter 14, you should go to: https://scholar.google.com/ and engage in some scholarly research to learn more about treating sex offenders. Specifically, you will need to search for “treatment of sex offenders” and locate two, recent scholarly articles of interest to you. You should then read both articles and respond to the following discussion prompts: 1. Explain both articles to your classmates. This should include a paragraph summary of each article in your own words (make sure to include the research questions, methods, findings, and implications). 2. What did you specifically learn from reading the article? 3. Based on your research and the implications provided in both scholarly articles. Describe a treatment program that you would create to deter individuals from engaging in repeated sex offenses. Your description should outline: your targeted audience, what the program would focus on and/or do to prevent said practices, and an explanation as to why your approach is superior to other approaches. To receive full credit you must respond to two other posts. These responses need to go beyond just agreeing with your peers and actually bring something new to the discussion (i.e. ask questions, clarify concepts, debate, bring in outside material, etc.). Please let me know if you have questions. This post will require a minimum of 200 words and a maximum of 500 words. Please include the word count in your main post. Sexual assault or abuse is a non-tolerable and inappropriate offense impacting society. Despite the law that forbids and is punitive regarding a sex crime, there is still an increase in sex crime offenders in the United States. There is a dire need to ponder upon this drastic issue to make a society liveable. Many methods, including management, deterrence, and rehabilitation, are the recognized solutions for the problem, including cost-effective treatments (McGrath et al., 2010).
